The Great Play

Autumn is the most theatrical of seasons — the trees burning through their final act, color by color, until the curtain falls and the cold moves in. From the blazing hillsides of West Virginia to the mist-hung lakes of the Carolinas, from a country road in Cades Cove under a purple sky to a maple still holding its leaves in the first snow — this is the artful farewell of summer, as spoken by the trees.
